Hi Sudar, I have completed my BE in 2010. I am hanvig experience in corePHP, Javascript, wordpress, joomla, Drupal, Cakephp, XML. Also integrated some of the API's like flight ticket booking, Paypal, Authorize.net, CCavenue etc.. I have learned and implemented all these things within last two years. But most of my friends and relatives were asking me to shift from PHP to some other domains like Java,.NET. I am really in a dilemma stage now. Please advise me on this. Thanking you in advance.

Passed SCWCD with 89%. I followed Head First Servlets and JSP book for the preparation and practiced the exam at the end of the book a day before the exam.
Apart from that I solved questions found here or there on internet.
Based on my test and preparation experience:
1) Make lots of small war files to test especially webapp security, sessions, listeners, EL. These areas have minor things that are easy to miss. (Thanks to Deepak for this tip to make wars)
2) Be thorough with Servlet and JSP minor details like whether init(ServletConfig) calls init() or vice versa; whether jspinit() is called first or init() is called first in JSP life cycle. These smaller details will help in knocking out unlikely choices.
3) APIs and life cycle of Servlets, JSP, Simple tags and Classical tags are important.
4) Go through at least 10-15 real life scenario questions on J2EE patterns. All the questions on patterns will be scenario based.
5) Exercises at the end of the book cover some concepts that are in the exam but are not covered within the chapters especially for the tag files. Donâ??t skip the exercises.
6) There are lots of printing mistakes in the book. The 19 page long correction document is available on javaranch website.
7) In bean related questions, give attention to scope in which bean is available to the JSP.
8) The exam wants you to know whether any container behavior is vendor specific or a mandatory J2EE specification. For example container creates a session cookie with name JSESSIONID which is mandatory as per specification but how container handles dynamic includes in JSP is vendor specific. The book mentions these details but they are easy to miss.
9) Be relaxed and cool during the exam because you may need to recall very minor details like the welcome file declaration in web.xml should not begin with a â??/â??.
10) And one last practical tip: Try not to have too much beer within 8-10 hours of the exam; although it increased concentration but wasted time in frequent breaks to the rest room. :)

SCWCD 1.4 exam Question and answer.

Even i would like to see the correct answers of these question.

I have cleared SCWCD 1.4 with 76%. I feel that JSP EL and J2EE patterns were bit tough and confusing. Rest of parts are straight forward. Next tough could be JSP custom tags.
